All-in-One Feeder Fly Hatching & Containment Kit

This all-in-one kit is designed to make feeder fly hatching and short-term holding simple. It gives you a dedicated setup for starting pupae in covered cups, then allowing the flies to finish hatching directly inside the mesh enclosure once emergence begins.

Instead of transferring every newly hatched fly by hand, you can simply place the active hatching cup inside the enclosure, remove the lid, and let the remaining flies emerge directly into the mesh habitat.

The included second cup lets you prepare another batch while the first one is still hatching or being used.

• 8" x 6.5" mesh enclosure with zip access
  Provides airflow and secure containment for adult feeder flies.

  Sits inside the mesh enclosure to create a more stable, easy-to-use bottom surface.

• 2 x 16 oz hatching cups with lids
  Start pupae in the covered cups. Once flies begin emerging, place the cup inside the mesh enclosure, remove the lid, and allow the remaining adults to hatch directly into the enclosure.

  The second cup can be used to start another batch so you can maintain a more consistent feeder supply.

• Aspen substrate for hatching
  Included for use in the hatching cups. A lightly damp paper towel may also be used if preferred.
• Insect feeding tongs
  Useful for handling supplies and managing feeders.
• 2 Komodo jelly pots — 14g each
  Provides adult flies with an easy source of food and moisture while they are being held.
• 10 date labels
  Helps you track when each batch was started so you can better manage hatching times and feeder rotation.

How the System Works

The kit is designed around a simple two-stage process.

1. Start the Pupae in a Covered Hatching Cup

Place your fly pupae in one of the included 16 oz cups with the lid secured.

Add the included aspen substrate or use a lightly damp paper towel.

Use one of the included labels to mark the date you started the batch.

2. Move the Cup Into the Mesh Enclosure

Once you see the first adult flies beginning to emerge, place the entire hatching cup inside the mesh enclosure.

Remove the cup lid.

The remaining pupae can then continue hatching directly inside the enclosure, allowing newly emerged flies to move out of the cup on their own.

This greatly reduces the need to manually transfer individual flies.

3. Feed and Hold the Adult Flies

Provide adult flies with one of the included jelly pots and appropriate moisture.

The ventilated mesh enclosure gives the flies room to move while keeping them contained until feeding time.

4. Start the Next Batch

While the first cup remains inside the enclosure, the second cup can be used to begin another batch of pupae.

This creates a simple rotation:

Cup 1: Hatching / producing adult flies
Cup 2: Preparing the next batch

That makes it easier to maintain a more continuous supply of feeder flies.

Adult flies should be provided with appropriate food, moisture, ventilation, and reasonable space while being held.

Avoid direct sunlight, excessive heat, and overcrowding.

A Simpler Way to Manage Feeder Flies

The two-cup system is what makes this setup especially convenient.

Start one batch with the lid on. Once flies begin emerging, move that cup into the mesh enclosure and remove the lid so the rest can hatch directly inside.

Then use the second cup to begin your next batch.
