Common melanogaster is the standard small fruit fly used by reptile and amphibian keepers worldwide. At ~1.5mm, it is the appropriate size for newly hatched dart frogs, small mantis nymphs, micro geckos, and other small insectivores. Fast reproduction and reliable production make it a practical staple feeder.
